Have a few Stainless barrels and if I can help it...I will put on a silver scope. No matte, no black, no camo. However If that barrel would be for night time hunting I would use a black scope since it's so important what is inside that scope for night time hunting that is the important thing then... In other words...If I had a stainless steel 17 Fireball barrel I would make sure that it had a illuminated dot recticle on it... If that scope was a Muller black 3 X 9 40 MM red dot then it would go on that stainless barrel..
same applies with the mounts and rings too...Stainless barrel then I would prefer silver scope, rings, and mounts too...
I do see black scope and black rings and mounts on stainless barrels all the time but it just bothers me to have them on my stainless barrels..

Of course if I was going to have a fox gun for night time hunting...No way would it be a stainless barrel...It would be black and if I had it made it would be matte black....
Stainless.....Um would be good for use on those rainy days in the deer woods.
I can't say that I prefer stainless guns to blued barreled guns!!!!!
IMO if your going to have something best to make it look right too....

Since I can't have everything I like, I don't.
However, if I had a choice I would only have
parkerized ones. They are so much easier to
take care of, and look just fine to me. (I am
still kicking myself for not buying one, or
one case, two cases, or more of the brand new,
in the case, in cosmoline and oil paper, and
still in the packaged government boxes of 12,
Springfield O3-A3's at the price of $5 each.)
There is nothing finer than a parkerized rifle
out in the field in any weather, and with a
scope to match.

Ah yes Parkerized!!!My Stalker Browning BPS 12 gauge does not shine a bit...Like that gun for sure..Great for predators.
Notice? The the Springfield Armory GI Model 1911 is also Parkerized. Wonder if a big shinny Silver 1911 would at least scare people away..The Parkerized one they would not even see it shinning. Suppose if someone really is going to do you harm you should not worry about giving them second thoughts??????

That is right! About the time one worries about how
pretty, or scary their weapon, is about the time they
are hesitating when they should be shooting. Action
such as that tends to shorten the life of the 'pilot'.

I'm kinda partial to the matte black in scopes...even on my stainless guns....but that is just personal opinion.
