  • Interests:Most everything these days can be stated as "formerly". Hunting, fishing, competition shooting, and many days/nights/weeks of camping or other field experience are now relegated to teaching, lecturing, and writing about. Former associate of Maj. Geo. C. Nonte, a firearms testing and evaluation firm that authored many books and articles on hunting, and firearms. The first writer for Shooting Times. All are now grouped into the field of survival, in which the knowledge, familiarization, and ability with all types of weapons are included. I still have to practice what I teach, lecture on, or write about, but, alas, that is getting to be a real difficult thing. The ole bod doesn't take too kindly for much of that activity these days. (But, don't give me even a shirt button at 300 yds, or it's mine!)

I don't know just how long this survey has run, but
USA Today has it running to vote on if you think the
2nd Amendment gives the right to citizens to bear arms.
It is just a Yes, No, or Undecided vote box, but after
a vote is entered it gives total percentage for each,
and the actual number of votes cast so far. Even though
it may be an older survey, the fact that it is still
running means that USA Today will be able to use it
at any time to report on the view of the people.

You can find that survey here .....

It is great that 97% agree. Of the 2% against are the
nincompoops like Bloomberg of New York. He is so far
off base he doesn't even know that New York once had
the lowest crime rate with firearms of any state, and
that they only rose to the highest after they implemented
the strongest gun control of all the states.

I once had to go to NY, but got a strong warning to
not even take my sidearm that I was required to carry
24/7. They don't even honor officers from anywhere to
allow them to carry their sidearm, even though their
state/departmental requirements are to carry at all times.
I wore my sidearm in Mexico all the while there. I even
carried it on my belt, exposed at times. AND, in a
situation where I felt threatened by an unknown person to
where I held him at gunpoint until officers arrived, only
to find out that the man I held was the chief of their
interior customs border patrol, I wasn't in any trouble.
In fact they commended me for my action as they had 33
tourists killed in the previous month. Although, when I
first found out just who I had 'captured' I sure was
very concerned about my continued well-being. I couldn't
have been more wrong, though. I was told that they
wished more LE officers from the states would carry,
and act in such situations.

I am glad to see that most of the states' mayors do
not agree with the NY nincompoop.
