One can tell right away if they caught a Alpha male and or female in a trap or the Bravo or Charley...The Bravo and the Charley cower.....Not the Alpha's!!!!!
I went to one of the Penn Game Commission meeting once.. They had the state trapper get up and talk about Alpha, Bravo, and Charley pecking order..
He explained how he would dispatch a coyote.. He would walk his hand up the back of the coyote while it was in the trap until he got to the neck and then you know what happens here with his hands.. Now you can only do this for the Bravo and the Charleys.. You walk your hands up the back of an Alpha male and female your going to get bit!!!!!!

That fella has bigger kahoonies than I got... No matter where they are in the pecking order I always just shot coyotes and went on from there.......................... Back when I was younger and thought I knew alot more than I actually did, I would turn the smaller "kitten" bobcats loose by hand... Just grab them by the nape of the neck with one hand, and by the loose skin of the lower back with the other, step on the trap jaws, pull his foot out, give him a little toss, and he was off and running........... Then, one day I guess I didn't have the loose skin grabbed up tight enough, and I found out that a bobcat can turn completely around inside his hide...... I'm just thankful I was wearing a CARHARTT coat and leather gloves, or things may not have turned out as well for me as they did.

An old timer passed this story on to me. See way back in Pa. you could get $2.00 bounty on a fox..there was no closed hunting season so guys would get together and find out where the fox dens where in the summer. The plan was to start digging at the top and then the mom and if they were there the pop fox would run out of the hole into a burlap bag that was waiting for them... Then the would commence to dig down from the top..reach down with their hand and pull all the pups up through the hole... Like Mongo said he did with the little cats..Reach down grab them by the neck fur and pull them straigh up from the den below.. They would pen them up and when they were ther right size they would sale the fox to the Pa Game Commission for the $2.00 bounty.. They kind ofharvested every pup in the den. This time nothing ran out of the den holes into the bag. They figure mom or pop fox were out hunting and only the pups were at home.. The guy reaches down and pulls out one of the fox by the neck hair..He pulls it up and all of a sudden it was not a pup it was the mom and she was snarling and not liking it that someone picked her up by the neck....I know I never stick my hand down into the den of a fox. ge even one of them there PA groudn Hogs will nake a nip out of you to...That why they call them Piggmy Grizz!!!!!!!g
