My brother and I went out the other night. And did some calling. On the first stand I turn the light on to do my pass before calling. Just to check to see if anything was out there. And this time there was a coyote watching us. So I turn on the caller and shot him before he knew what had happen. I did some pup yelps and kept calling. With the foxpro and the J.S. Flicker and in about 3 mins. another coyote came running in from my left and was going down wind. He did not stop for a shot. So I kept calling and in came one more at a long dist. and just sat there. So I took the shot and kept on calling and belive it one more coyote came still on my side. I shot her. So we picked up the two and went looking for the 3rd one. Perry's light was going out so we stop looking. I went back the next day and found him at 237 yards from where we had the truck parked and about four feet off of the road.
We went to our 2nd stand which was a dry run. So on to the 3rd stand which the wind had pick up a little by then. Started with the flicker. It took awhile but then a coyote came in from a long ways out. I stop him about 15 feet from the truck. And Perry shot him with hie 223 Rem AR-15. I did some pup yelps and kept calling and one more came in on my side but gave me no shot and went on to Perry's side and he shot but it was high. But the good thing about the AR's is the fast 2nd shot so he was able to send one more down the tube and got her in the head.

Here are some of the pics.

I use a old Brinkmann case with a aircraft landing light in it. Been using that sit up for years now works great. The bulb is a 100 watt,200,000 cp,13.5 v. Part # 4537. I use a house 110 outlet and plug for a better conn. I replace the fac. switch with a better toggle switch.

... is that a Rifle/Scope mounted light or a "hand-held" ??
I'd like to see some pics of your light if you happen to have them handy. ;)

Other than available time to hunt these days, lights are probably currently my next weakest link. :D

thanks,

It's a hand held light but we have them mounted to the seats on the rack on the truck.
I will take some pics. as soon as I can and post them here for you.

Congrats on an outstanding harvest and a good predator story.

Something...that coyote pup sound...when all else fails. I do not care if they are barking at you and you have been had...Go to the coyote pup or KIYI....Kind of the same thing and they will come in and drop their guard...
Some people say do what the coyote does...If it barks at you you bark back...if it howls at you you howl back...Not me....If they hang up on me or start barking I go to the coyote pup and let her rip..You will be surprised on how they come in again for a look see...

Again outstanding story of predator calling ...thank you for sharing with us...Welcome aboard!!!!!!

UB,

For me it's been ye old process of elimination ...
1. I know it isn't my scope, my shooting, or my rifle (never with a m-99 LOL). The Primos Trigger Stick Tripod will help even more. ;)
2. Since I've added the PowerDogg and RA's sounds to my MP3 Caller, and gotten a decent speaker for my MP3 Caller, my calling sound problems have been fixed. :D
3. Since I shot the one last year with the Crossbow, it isn't my camo or Scent Control, cepting perhaps when I hit the Chili too much.

So there haint a whole hell of a lot left to fix other than my lights. :D
