I've used some battery-powered jobbers and sort of liked them and I have used those lighter-fluid catalytic warmers (stinky and [possibly] dangerous). I think these would be an interesting compromise.
Safer and pleasanter than the fluid ones, less hassle with weight and wires than the batteries, not to mention easier to wash, but I bet the price gets out of hand quickly compared to both the others when you look at what the heater packs cost per hour of use..

The heat packs dont cost much at all. If your luckey they will last all day and at worst you will need to change them only once. Use them in by gloves and use the stickey kind for sock. Also I have batterypowered heat socks but I prefer the heat packs with sticky or if we are out of sticky ones I just put one between 2 socks. My dad has the ones with the pockets I also use his sometimes.

For me at least, here in VA it's rather hard to have the right combination of socks and shoes ... it can be anywhere from the single digits or teens in the mornimg and up into the 50's or even 60's by mid-day.

I ended up buying a very comfortable pair of lighter weight insulated boots and also bought a pair of well padded and insulated hiking socks for the warmer mornings and my mid-day hikes. For the really cold mornings, I went ahead and bought a new pair of the "Heat Factory" pocketed socks (along with a 3-pack of the warmers) ... from E-bay of course.

I'm hoping the insulated (sweat-wicking) hiking socks will be enough to get me thru Deer season and I really won't get around to using the "Heat Factory" socks and warmers until my late Dec / Jan Yote hunting. But, they are gunna be stashed away in my backpack just in case. ;)
