The best climber imo is the tree lounge. Not cheap though. The cheapest are home made. Thats what I have. Don't really know any brand names. But ladder stands are high on my list.

I use a summit climber, not the cheapest either, to be honest I wouldn't short change yourself with a tree stand if you can. Tree stands you get what you pay for IMO.

Ya so I got to use my stand a bit, one thing I noticed is that it doesn't hug reel close the tree, because of the prongs that stick into the tree, so if you shift you weight or something it moves around a bit. As long as you don't mind a little rocking from the stand it's a good buy. the other thing is that I would suggest, is that you buy one of the ladder systems to get up the tree instead of the screw in steps. It's not bad for me because I'm young, but it is kinda tricky getting up into the stand with the "screw ins".

Tree stands I too am a grounder. I would get the best if I was going to have one... I have known so many people that have fallen from homemade and commercial tree stands that I kind of shy away from them...A few of them ended up not hunting for a few years because of all the reconstructive surgeries...One thing for sure I would also get the best safety harness on the market too...Um I fell once from a high spot. Spent two weeks in the hospital so hence my feeling on tree stands....

Kind of like that ole Red Ryder statement: "Oh if you get a BB gun you will shoot your eye out?"

Just to remind folks and maybe introduce the danger to others, read the following article on suspension trauma which kills tree stand users.

Hunterman, A loose stand is not good. You might want to try hooking up a ratchet strap to it and crank it tight.
