I can't say what would be "the perfect choke" for #4 Buckshot, but I patterned it with both full and modified chokes in my 870 12 gag. for predators, quite a number of years back, and I went with the full choke... But I understand that some guns do better with the modified.

I would say you're okay with a Full choke with #4 buckshot. Let me double check my Remington shot pamphlet that I printed out a few years ago.....

Yup... in the "shot selection" part, it mentioned you can use a Full choke with buckshot, but with 00 Buck or 000 Buck, a modified choke is better. So, with #4 Buck, you're good with a full choke out to 40-50 yards. I'd do like what Mongojoe mentioned and try patterning it with both Full and Modified and see which is better.

Heard that the Improved Modified is a good choke to use for Number # 4 buck shot.
Understand that the person who does this shoots coyotes from aircraft all the time.
After the snow hits here in Pennsylvania and I hunt during the night and twilight conditions I will have to report how # 4 buck functions on predators.

I have WINCHOKE and INVECTOR PLUS improved modified tubes to use in Winchester 101, Model 1400 Semi, Ranger Pump, or Browning BPS Pump.
Less incline to shoot # 4 buck out of the 101. We will save that for dove, upland game, and clay birds.
